2023 Sustainability Report: another step towards change
For the fourth consecutive year, Santalucia Mobili is publishing its Sustainability Report. The first report came out in 2020, the year in which the company demonstrated its resilience in ensuring business continuity and the year that informed its move towards making real change, with a long-term vision focused on building a more sustainable future.
The 2023 Sustainability Report provides further tangible proof of the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. The report looks back over the results achieved during the year by adopting responsible, innovative practices in line with the goals of the UN 2030 Agenda, and looks forward to new projects waiting to be launched.
What sustainability means at Santalucia Mobili
Investing in sustainability is no longer a choice but a necessity. In business, sustainability is an economic and social issue, as well as an environmental one, and should be considered an integral part of the company’s business model.
This is what Santalucia Mobili wants to achieve through its strategic initiative TO DO FUTURE, giving voice to corporate sustainability.
The initiative consists in a concrete action plan working towards achieving important goals year on year. These goals are informed by objectives set out in the initial strategy, and lead the way towards making real change – change that is rooted in the company’s purpose.
“We want to buildan organisational model that
catches on and moves us towards a sustainable world”.
Some of the initiatives range from increasing efficiency in managing production lines to boosting product innovation, from targeting employee engagement to adopting circular economy models, and also include prioritising wellbeing among staff and the local community.
This action plan touches every corner of the company, with the aim of creating shared value and strengthening the company’s reputation as a green enterprise.
Targets reached in 2023
The company continues to rework its production processes every year in line with the principles of the lean philosophy, which aims to eliminate waste and optimise resources.
One of the key examples of this, in the context of achieving more efficient and sustainable production, is the recent installation of an innovative photovoltaic plant, launched in May 2023 in partnership with the Sorgenia group. The plant was installed at Santalucia Mobili’s production premises in Via Sagree, where the most electricity is consumed, to ensure the site has a constant supply of renewable energy.
As regards product design, new environmentally friendly materials have been introduced. Examples include recycled fabric upholstery for the new Evan sofa, and sheets of composite material used as an alternative to recycled wood panels – an innovation still in the experimental stage. Both solutions involve processing waste from the textile industry or using recycled fabrics. This choice makes Santalucia Mobili products different, promoting the circular economy model and ensuring the needs of today’s increasingly sustainability-aware market are met.
An ongoing commitment
These are just some of the initiatives the company has implemented. There are many more which have already been launched in the areas of people, governance and the environment, in an effort to achieve new and significant goals, and to improve the company’s impact on the planet. By combining sustainability and innovation, we can create a more responsible, human-centric future.
