This year, Santalucia Mobili’s Design Store Milano got a complete makeover for the Salone del Mobile. Looking out over the futuristic City Life district, just a stone’s throw away from the penthouse owned by the famous Italian couple known jointly as Ferragnez, Santalucia Mobili’s Store joined the Fuorisalone circuit, officially featuring in the “Interni” guide. Packed with previews, new products, contests and partnerships, here’s what happened.

Prestigious Hettich partnership

The week began on Tuesday 9 April when we presented our new sliding wardrobe mechanism to our agents. This was created in collaboration with Hettich, a leading German furniture components and hardware company.
The door uses an innovative TopLine XL sliding mechanism, which moves smoothly and silently and offers a soft close in both directions. A specialist technician from Hettich showed those attending all of the benefits of this closing mechanism, explaining the technical features that make it one of the best on the market.

New shapes and finishes for your living room

Santalucia Mobili’s living room area featured in various parts of the Design Store: on one side was the large Integra feature wall by brand Homy. This included a versatile side panel system which was used in combination with storage units, and featured a modern mix of glass, wood grain and matt lacquered finishes.

On the other, brand Ikona showed off its Innova compositions: square shapes, bold splashes of colour, and the unusual ‘Open’ frontless unit with split casing: one of the collection’s characteristic features.

What’s new in the bedroom by Ikona and Homy

In the Design Store space, visitors were able to admire a preview of the Dandy Night collection by Ikona. The feature piece in the composition was the Adam bed, which reflects the original, elegant spirit of this collection through its padded headboard. Its quilted stitching creates an elegant rhombus pattern.

Dandy Night’s distinguishing feature is the framed doors with a thin profile: a minimalist, modern take on a great furniture classic. The frame adds to the unusual design of the bedside cabinet and the hinged wardrobe doors, which feature the new steel handle and a delicate 3D pattern in the Trial finish.

The Projecta wardrobes by Homy also feature new handle grips. The metallic finish runs along the full length of the door, creating a subtle, on-trend decoration.

A walk-in wardrobe space

A first for the Design Store was the walk-in wardrobe installation, which included new shelves supported by metal brackets featuring an unusual crossed line motif.

DESIGN IS: your take on design

There was no shortage of ideas and inspiration, and, riding the wave of creativity that washed over Milan, we decided to get our visitors involved in our DESIGN IS contest. Visitors to our Design Store throughout the week were able to write down their own definition of design on coloured cards.

If you are curious to read some of them, follow us on Facebook and Instagram. Over the coming weeks we will be choosing the definition we like best and it will become Santalucia Mobili’s new motto.
